Every morning the young boy would go to the old mans shack and help him get up and prepare his stuff for the long day of fishing ahead. He would go and get the old man a cup of coffee and sometimes some bread or food of some sort and bring it back to the shack with a huge smile on his face. He would then share the news about the Yankee's and Joe DiMaggio (the old man's favorite player on the Yankee's and possible his hero or role model). There would always be something great the great DiMaggio did the previous day that would put the old man in a great mood for the coming day. After sitting for a little and talking Manolin would walk the old man to his little skiff carrying the mast or other miscellaneous tools and items. Then he would go to the boat he worked for and report for his day of fishing.
Sometimes he would go with Santiago always encouraged to learn new tricks of the trade or to hear great stories of the younger years of the old man and how amazing of a fisher he use to be. Whenever the little boy could he would buy the old man some bait and give them to him to fish with. Being an all around good kid and a well mannered man if I was able to appoint a character out of all three of the books I read I would give it to Manolin.
